FRAMINGHAM - Officials with the Massachusetts Port Authority have announced that the Logan Express parking garage in Framingham will be expanded to include around 1,000 additional spaces for vehicles.
Massport’s recent press release explains that three levels will be added to the garage, which is located adjacent to Shoppers World. State officials anticipate that service frequencies from Framingham to Logan International Airport in Boston will be increased from every 30 minutes to every 20 minutes due to the expansion.
“We appreciate Massport’s dedication to creating a more customer friendly experience for local travelers interested in using the Framingham Logan Express,” Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky said in a statement.
“The community will only continue to benefit from the enhancements to the (Logan Express) service and overall site improvements.”
Framingham’s shuttle buses to the airport are just one of the several Logan Express services across eastern Massachusetts. Buses drop passengers off at all of Logan International’s terminals.
“The improvements that Massport is making to the Framingham Logan Express site will improve that experience for our region's travelers, and I look forward to seeing it move forward,” State Senate President and Senator for the 2nd Middlesex and Norfolk District Karen Spilka stated.
Massport added that solar panels and charging stations for electric vehicles are also included in the expansion’s scope of work.
State officials anticipate that work on the garage’s additions will begin in the fall, with construction estimated to wrap up by the following winter.
